A private jet. An 1880s water tower on the South Australian coast. One weekend that refuses to be ordinary.

Some weekends you come back rested. Others you come back changed. This is an invitation to the second kind.

There are properties that offer a bed and a view. Then there are properties that offer a story, one that begins well before you arrive and stays with you long after you leave. The Vantage, rising above the shoreline of Semaphore on South Australia’s coast, belongs firmly to the second category. Pair it with an Airly private jet and what you have isn’t just a weekend away. It is a weekend that sets a new standard for what a weekend can be.

This escape was designed for people who understand that the quality of how you travel shapes the quality of where you arrive. Airly Jet Card members fly on fixed rates with no repositioning fees, no queues, and no compromises. Wheels up within minutes from a private FBO terminal, on an aircraft that waits for you. The journey, in other words, is already the beginning of the experience. By the time the South Australian coastline comes into view below, the weekend has already started.

“There will be nothing like it in regards to high-end accommodation with a touch of the extraordinary.” – DANIEL JOHNSON, CREATOR OF THE VANTAGE

At the other end of the flight sits something genuinely unprecedented in Australian hospitality. The Vantage, is the restoration of an 1880 hexagonal water tower. Four storeys of heritage architecture transformed through several years of meticulous work and multi-million dollar investment, into what its creator calls a high end unique accommodation. The name is a nod to what you find at the top: a vantage point in every sense, over the Gulf of St Vincent and Adelaide Hills to the East.

THE VANTAGE , SEMAPHORE, ADELAIDE

A tower built in 1880.
Restored for now.

Originally built to serve the coastal suburb of Semaphore, the hexagonal water tower stood as working infrastructure for nearly a century before being quietly converted to a private residence in 1972. What most people would walk past has now become a structure with extraordinary bones, an irreplaceable location and the potential to become something that had simply never existed in Australia before.

The restoration that followed was anything but ordinary. Every brick was made to order by Littlehampton Bricks in the Adelaide Hills, nothing off the shelf, nothing approximated. The build was led by Peter Claridge of Claridge Construction and architect Mike Sheidow of Black Rabbit Architecture and Interiors, working in close collaboration to honour the tower’s heritage while delivering something unmistakably contemporary within its curved walls.

Restoring The Vantage meant preserving the tower’s unique architectural character, meaning a traditional guest lift could not be incorporated. Instead, movement between levels becomes part of the experience via the beautifully integrated staircase. A discreet service elevator is available for luggage and personal items.

The beach is a short walk from the gate. Semaphore’s eclectic main street is around the corner and the Barossa Valley, one of the world’s great wine regions is less than an hour by road.

The tower itself accommodates up to six guests in its sumptuous Suites. For larger groups, five premium two-bedroom Retreats and a single bedroom accessible Retreat sit on the grounds at the tower’s base. Each beautifully appointed, each a different way of experiencing the same extraordinary address. The accessible Retreat includes a lift however due to its heritage nature, the tower is accessible by stairs only (there is a dumb waiter for luggage). A full private buyout of both the tower and the Retreats makes The Vantage equally compelling for an intimate celebration, a corporate retreat or a group of people who simply want a weekend that earns its name.

“We’ve travelled the country to find the design elements that make The Vantage both luxurious and unique. There isn’t anything like it.”— MICHAEL SHEIDOW, ARCHITECT

The Vantage opens late 2026 and is accepting early registrations now. It is by any measure, the kind of place you tell people about when you come back.

AIRLY IS THE WAY TO GET THERE

Private aviation that makes sense.

Airly exists for one reason: to make flying private work for people who value their time above everything else. Not ownership, not the overhead, just the aircraft, the fixed rate, and the freedom to go where you’re going without the theatre of commercial travel.

The Airly Jet Card gives members a block of flight hours at a locked hourly rate, fixed for a full 12-month term, with no repositioning fees, no dead-leg charges, and no surprise surcharges. Choose a 5, 10, or 25-hour block. Book with 48 hours’ notice. Fly the Eastern seaboard from Adelaide to the Whitsundays, including regional strips that commercial airlines don’t touch. Pets fly in the cabin. The aircraft waits for you.

Adelaide sits squarely on the Airly network. Which means The Vantage sits squarely within reach, for a long weekend that begins the moment you decide to go, not the moment your boarding group is called.
